Meet the Team
Dave Ferris
Dave founded Pine to Prairie Landscapes Inc. in 1992 as a design/build company specializing in residential and commercial landscapes. Pine to Prairie originally focused on boulder retaining walls but because of customer demand, Dave expanded his company into a full service landscape design/build firm. Pine to Prairie quickly grew into the successful, comprehensive landscape company it is today by delivering innovative designs and superb customer service.
He was raised in Bloomington and attended both Bemidji State and the U of M before entering the field of real estate. There, Dave met a coworker who was a landscape architect and they decided to start a full time landscaping business. The valuable lessons Dave learned from him and through experience in all facets of the business still hold true today.
Dave loves architecture, travel, nature and physical activities, like scuba diving. He travels far and wide to dive and explore shipwrecks as close as Lake Superior and as far away as Bonaire, an island off the coast of Venezuela. The diving allows him a unique perspective to view nature unspoiled.
For over 20 years Dave Ferris has owned and operated his successful Minneapolis based landscape design firm, Pine to Prairie. His passion for video production was born from his love of nature – specifically underwater ocean shoots. From photo and video to web layout and design, Dave has honed his skills over the years as he became intimately involved with all aspects of branding. As Executive Producer at Chilibean Productions his local and international work spans from corporate industrials, promotional spots, and more.

Dave Busch
From city backyards to suburban properties to lake cottage shorelines, Dave has been developing landscape designs which fit with the land, compliment architecture and satisfy client needs for 20 years. He has had the good fortune of collaborating with accomplished architects, landscape architects, engineers and contractors producing successful, appealing site designs and landscape solutions. Dave believes a methodical design process results in a great landscape plan. This approach gives the client an accurate vision, budget and schedule of work to be completed. He has generated a long list of recognized accomplishments, including 7 Awards For Excellence In Landscape Design from the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association.
Dave graduated from North Dakota State University in 1990 with degrees in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design. Early in his career, Dave practiced under the tutelage of licensed, award winning landscape architects in Los Angeles and Chicago. In 1995, he shifted into the design/build sector of the Minnesota landscape industry. Since then, he has learned the challenges of installation, crew management and greatly broadened his knowledge of plants, building materials, budgeting and scheduling.
Eric Robertson
Eric Robertson is going on his second year as part of the Pine to Prairie design team. Eric has been a part of the landscape design/build industry for eleven years total. In 1996 he moved to the east coast and began studying botany and horticulture at the University of Connecticut. It was in Connecticut that Eric began interning with the landscape design firm MacDonnell & Painter Associates. He spent four years with the firm learning modern landscape design principles, and design implementation as well. After MacDonnell & Painter, he returned to Minnesota and has since then been busy designing a wide range of projects.
During his free time, Eric enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife and new baby daughter, Nora. Some of his favorite activities include cooking, fishing, painting, hiking, camping, golfing and pretty much anything else outdoors.
Marshall Wellman
Marshall has been in the landscape design/build industry for 16 years honing his skills in all aspects of the business. His knowledge and skills has enabled him to successfully manage a broad scope of residential and commercial projects of all scales from a few thousand dollars to a half million dollars. Marshall's expertise makes him an invaluable contributor to the Pine to Prairie team.
In his leisure time, Marshall enjoys his family life with his wife, Lisa, and two boys. Since both boys are active as baseball players, he and his wife enjoy cheering them on at their games. He is also avid outdoorsman.
